Benefits of Jaw Surgery

Corrective jaw surgery can significantly improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing functional and aesthetic issues with their jaw. At Dawson Dental, Corrective Jaw Surgery in Peoria is expertly handled by Dr. Brandon Dawson, ensuring that each patient receives personalized care tailored to their specific needs. This procedure can alleviate discomfort related to chewing, speaking, and breathing, and can also enhance facial symmetry, potentially boosting self-esteem and confidence.

Additionally, jaw surgery can help in correcting misalignments that may lead to chronic pain such as TMJ disorders, sleep apnea, and other dental health problems. By realigning the jaw, patients often experience improved functionality and an overall enhancement in their oral health. Dawson Dental focuses on providing a comprehensive approach to treatment, ensuring that all aspects of the patient’s health are considered to achieve optimal results.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for corrective jaw surgery at Dawson Dental typically include individuals experiencing functional problems related to their jaws. These issues might manifest as difficulty in chewing, biting, or swallowing, chronic jaw or TMJ pain, excessive wear of the teeth, or facial imbalance due to misaligned jaws. Additionally, those who have suffered facial injuries or congenital conditions affecting jaw alignment may also benefit from this surgical intervention. Dr. Brandon Dawson, along with the skilled team at Dawson Dental, is adept at assessing and recommending the most effective treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

Corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, not only improves the functionality of the jaw but also enhances facial aesthetics, leading to increased self-confidence and improved quality of life. Candidates often seek out this procedure after less invasive treatments have failed to alleviate their symptoms. At Dawson Dental, the focus is on providing comprehensive evaluations to ensure that each patient receives the optimal outcome from their surgical experience. With state-of-the-art technology and a commitment to personalized care, Dawson Dental ensures that each step of the journey towards a better smile and improved jaw function is smooth and reassuring.

Surgery Preparation Tips

At Dawson Dental, preparing for corrective jaw surgery is a crucial step towards ensuring a successful outcome and a smoother recovery. Dr. Brandon Dawson and the team emphasize the importance of being physically and mentally prepared for the procedure. Patients are advised to maintain a healthy diet, avoid smoking, and limit alcohol consumption as these can affect the healing process. It’s also recommended to arrange for someone to assist at home post-surgery, as the initial recovery period may limit daily activities.

Furthermore, Dr. Brandon Dawson will provide specific instructions tailored to each patient’s unique needs. This includes guidelines on fasting, medication adjustments, and dental hygiene practices to be followed before the surgery date. Understanding and adhering to these pre-operative instructions can significantly impact the ease of surgery and post-operative healing. At Dawson Dental, every step is taken to ensure that patients are fully informed and prepared for their corrective jaw surgery.

Recovery and Aftercare

After undergoing corrective jaw surgery, the journey to recovery and optimal oral health is paramount. At Dawson Dental, the focus is on providing comprehensive aftercare to ensure a smooth and efficient healing process. Patients will receive personalized guidance on managing discomfort, swelling, and nutrition post-surgery. It’s crucial to follow all provided instructions and attend follow-up appointments to monitor progress and recovery milestones.

Dr. Brandon Dawson emphasizes the importance of adhering to a prescribed aftercare plan, which includes medication management, dietary adjustments, and oral hygiene practices. This tailored approach helps minimize complications and accelerates the journey towards achieving a balanced, functional, and aesthetically pleasing jaw alignment.

Long-Term Outcomes

Corrective jaw surgery, also known as orthognathic surgery, offers significant long-term benefits for patients experiencing functional dental issues or facial asymmetry. Over time, patients can enjoy enhanced chewing functionality, improved speech, and alleviation of pain associated with temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). Additionally, the aesthetic improvements following surgery often lead to increased self-confidence and psychological well-being. The stability of these outcomes is well-documented, with many patients experiencing lasting benefits years after their procedure.

The success of corrective jaw surgery extends beyond immediate physical corrections; it also promotes better oral health. By realigning the jaws and teeth, it facilitates easier access for cleaning and reduces the risk of periodontal disease and tooth decay. Furthermore, addressing structural issues within the jaw can prevent future dental complications, making it a proactive choice for maintaining overall dental health. With the expertise of Dr. Brandon Dawson, patients are guided through a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to achieve optimal results that stand the test of time.

What Our Amazing Patients Have To Say

Less than a year ago, I had a crown replaced by Dr. Dawson. All was well until recently. It just didn't feel right. He took x-rays and then without any hesitation offered to replace it at no charge. This was successfully completed yesterday. Thank you, Dr. Dawson. Once again... all is well. I was originally referred to this dental office about seven years ago by a friend, but I live about seven miles away. Over the years, I've had my teeth cleaned here every six months along with other needs. I always notice all the other dental offices while driving to this office. Two years ago, I was apprehensive with the change of leadership that took place and considered some of those closer options. I'm not going anywhere else though, because Dr. Dawson and the team continue to offer great service.

I have been going to the dental for this dentist for about 10+ years. I have had nothing but excellent experience. Lis has been an excellent asset to the company without her help I would’ve left when Dr. Ostler left but because of Liz I stayed and the service is always the best I highly recommend Dr. Dawson they work with you they have knowledge and they know what they’re doing if you have any information, call Lis, she has all the answers

My previous dentist retired and Dawson Dental took over; I’ve been with them a little over a year and before today only had twice a year cleanings done; all three cleanings that I had done were excellent; today I had to get three fillings with two on one side and one on the other. Never felt the shots and never had any pain through the entire process. In and out in less than an hour. My wife or I also never have felt pressured to have additional dental work done. Highly recommend Dawson Dental
